Irving is part of the Dallas and Fort Worth area in Texas. With such large cities in the region, there are plenty of things to see and do when you stay in Irving. If you are looking for hotels Irving has plenty to offer. Since the city is close to such a busy area of the state, hotels are plentiful and wide in variety. You can find basic accommodations with low rates or numerous luxury options that are more expensive.

Dallas and Fort Worth are both close enough to Irving that when you stay in the city, you can see it all. You will find no shortage of adventures and activities in the area with everything from museums to lakes. Irving has attractions of its own as well and it is often hard to decide where to start when there are so many things to enjoy.

The Irving Arts Center has several galleries, including two theaters, meeting areas and a sculpture garden outside. This large site is a member of a program affiliated with the Smithsonian and the center often creates traveling exhibits from emerging and established artists. The sculpture garden has permanent and frequent traveling displays that include work by famous sculptor, James Surls. The theaters in the center are fully equipped and hold over 200 special events each year. These productions include symphonies, choruses, ballet and cultural performances.

The Center for Arts in Irving has been located in the area since the 1950s. It consists of two galleries that highlight art by local residents as well as regional artists in many different styles. The exhibits change each month in order to aid art appreciation within the community members that visit often. The center also offers free classes on drawing, calligraphy and painting and the galleries have workshops for all different types of artists to utilize.

When you are looking for somewhere special to explore, the Mandalay Canal Walk at Las Colinas is one of the most distinctive areas in the city. This tree-lined street features cobblestone walkways and an old European village atmosphere. The neighborhood follows the Mandalay Canal and makes a beautiful area for a relaxing walk.

Irving also has many notable statues and monuments marking its streets. The Mustangs of Las Colinas are nine large bronze horses that look as if they are running across a stream made from granite. The sculpture is the largest across the globe to feature horses. Just across the plaza from the sculpture, you can enter the Williams Square West Tower and view a film that outlines the seven-year creation of the Mustangs.

The Marble Cow sculpture sits on top of Bluebonnet Hill and is another interesting sight to see. The sculpture is a tribute to the rolling ranchlands that used to dominate the area. The five marble cows make fun pictures and the view from the hill is marvelous.

Once you are ready to branch out to the other cities in the area, you need to make sure you see Fair Park in Dallas. The park has been home to the Texas State Fair since 1886. The 277-acre cultural complex and amusement center has an aquarium, a museum of natural history, a railroad exhibit, a music hall, amusement rides and many other attractions. Even when the fair is not running, there are plenty of things to see in this park.

Some of the most family-friendly attractions in the area are the Fort Worth Zoo and the Dallas World Aquarium. Both feature animals and creatures that are unique and interesting and they each give visitors memorable views of this fascinating world.

One of the most famous attractions in the area is the Southfork Ranch. This ranch gained popularity due to its presence in the 1980's soap opera show, "Dallas". If you have ever seen the show, you may want to relive some of the classic moments on the home tour at the ranch.

Staying in Irving during your trip to this part of Texas is a wonderful idea. You have access to all of the area attractions as well as the larger cities nearby. You will also have peace and quiet in the hotels Irving has to offer its guests. The city is very accessible because part of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport lies within its city limits. When you choose hotels Irving has within its borders, you will have enough options in convenient locations to satisfy your needs during your stay in the area.
